Klaus Solution to Aging Roof Encountering Sagging, Warping, and Leaking in Harrisburg, OR
Challenge
A customer’s roof was aging fast and had a few repair jobs done on it not long before we came in for an inspection. But they were ready to have the roof replaced and contact Klaus for an estimate.
The aging roof introduced many problems that were existing and imminent:
- Danger to start leaking soon
- Warped roof from UV exposure
- Significant asphalt loss to shingles
A warped roof is typically sagging, uneven, contains dips and ripples, and can be caused by moisture damage, wear and tear, excessive heat, or other installation issues. While UV exposure doesn’t directly lead to a warped roof, over time, the constant heat and UV radiation break down the asphalt. This causes shingles to deteriorate and creates an overall weaker structure and foundation.
Additionally, the likelihood of the roof leaking increases since a warped roof disrupts the protective layers of the roofing system and displaces shingles in a way that moisture and water can seep through.
Solution
Our solution for this customer was to do a full roof replacement, which consisted of removing and replacing all the old shingles, removing and replacing all the damaged plywood decking, installing Sealaron XT tape and Sealaron Ice & Water Barrier, installing Klaus Roofing synthetic VeloraOne underlayment, and installing a filtered ridge vent.
