Cost-Effective Insulation and Skylight Solution - Florence, OR
Challenge
A customer in Florence, OR, contacted Klaus because they had a lovely sunroom added to the front of the house, but unfortunately, the room had a leaky roof.
When our roofing consultant arrived at the house, the customer also asked about the possibility of insulating the roof despite its 2x4 construction in addition to fixing the leaking roof.
Solution
To provide insulation, add a SuperRoof Vented Deck Roofing System, or a “Superroof Sandwich” above their existing decking. It’s a design that provides insulation and allows air to flow continuously between the roof covering. The “sandwich” roof panel contains an insulation core in between the metal sheets that is durable, keeps buildings cool in the summer and warm in the winter, and reduces energy bills.
We also decided to remove the existing sunroom skylights and add three sun tunnel skylights to the attached mobile home. Sun tunnel skylights, or solar tubes, are a system that captures and brings natural sunlight from the roof into interior, darker areas of a building where traditional skylights aren’t practical, and is a cost-effective alternative to them.
