Our customer in Sutherlin had recently purchased a new home for his family and asked Klaus for a home evaluation. Despite the roof being only 15 years old, they had noticed that it was not aging very well.

Attic Leak Leads to Water Damage in Kitchen - Eugene, OR

Problem

Customers Gigi and John in Eugene reported that water was coming into their cupboard above their stove when it rained.

We inspected the attic and discovered that water was coming from around the flashing (material used to direct water to the shingles and down the flashing, away from the roof deck) of a pipe boot (a type of flashing that waterproofs pipes by going around its base) and down into the area just above their stove.

Additional Problems Upon Inspection:

Very little insulation in areas of the house
No insulation in the attic
Roof was old and brittle
Loss of granules on roof shingles
