We began by inspecting the roof and talking with the homeowner about any questions or concerns they had about the project. From there, we scheduled the installation and began making the preparations.

To begin the installation, our team strips the old shingles and assesses the decking to see if any of it needs to be repaired or replaced. During this project, we also got into the attic to fix the roof's substructure and add insulation. Once this was completed, our team began installing the new Klaus roof. We start by removing the existing shingles and replacing any rotted or damaged plywood decking. We then renail all the wood decking and install new RVO vents. We also install a special synthetic underlayment that helps to prevent leaks and protect the roof. This customer chose IKO architectural shingles in Castle Grey for the new roof. Last but certainly not least, we haul away all the debris and clean up the job to the customer's satisfaction. The results are astounding!

Our Inspector Wendy investigated the roof. We actually get on the roof to see what is going on. The roof was worn out and had moss on one side (photo 1). She then shared with the owner her findings and recommendations.

In photo 2, you can also see the tape used along the seams. Not every roofer takes this extra step against potential leaks.

The roofing crew then installed the special “ice and water” underlayment 3 feet up from the edge, the IKO RoofGuard underlayment, and galvanized steel drip metal on the eaves and rake edges (photo 3). We then re-shingled with IKO Cambridge shingles (photo 4). No more concern about leaks now!

Our Inspector climbed onto the roof to investigate, and she used a software program to take photos that gives exact measurements.

They chose us to re-roof this home, the Klaus Roofing Way. In this BEFORE photo, you see many places where shingles were very damaged or missing.

Our roofing crew started by removing the old shingles and underlayment; they found very old and fragile wood decking that was rotted in some areas. Because this attic area is a living space, we couldn’t see the decking condition until shingles were removed. Yet, since there were leaks in the house, we expected to find issues.

Our crew covered the existing decking with new 3/4-inch plywood. (see re-decking photos) They then taped all the seams to help prevent future leaks.

The next layer is the specific synthetic protective underlayment. The last three feet has an “ice & water” barrier laid down to protect against future leaks.

The roof was then re-shingled with high-quality IKO Dynasty shingles in the Appalachian color (AFTER photo). The crew then cleaned up and ensured no nails were left.

Because of our thoroughness and attention to detail, they chose to go with us. Even though it had been tarped (photo 1) water was still making its way in.

Our crew removed the old garage roof. When we remove the rotted plywood under the shingles, we saw where water had been leaking under the plywood (photo 2). These areas had new plywood installed rather than less sturdy pressboard (photo 3), and then the whole garage was re-roofed with IKO shingles (photo 4).

The owners thanked us for the care our crew took at their home, especially leaving the premises cleaner than when we arrived.
